Stewart Earns Top 10 Finish at Brockville Janet Stewart - RAAL Motorsports June 28, 2009
After
a disappointing rainout at Mohawk International Speedway on Friday June
26th, the team regrouped for the weekly trek back to "the
BOS", Brockville Ontario Speedway. Stewart would start the night
7th in the first event of the night and when checkered flew would be
scored fourth in the eight lap preliminary event. This would place him
12th on the starting grid for the feature. "The track seemed pretty
quick tonight, quite a bit of bite left", Stewart would comment.
The team gambled a little, trying a different set up than usual.
At the drop of the green Stewart in his
Remax/ Penny Blake sponsored TEO machine started a race to the
front. Climbing 2 spots in first 2 laps before caution would wave
for a wreck on the backstretch. When racing resumed he would start again
to climb, only to get caught by a slowing car exiting turn two. This
knocked him and several others to the back of the pack lucky to be able
to continue. The fast track continued to take its toll as
several other accidents occurred throughout the nights main
attraction but at the end Stewart was able to gain some momentum,
finding the extreme top, and when needed the bottom lanes to work his
way up to a solid sixth place finish. "The changes we made
were good in the beginning, but it hurt us a little in the end. The car
was a little loose for my liking, but there was a lot cars here tonight,
so to climb back up to sixth from the back... we'll take it and be back
next week to go at again."
Its back to racing at the Mohawk
International Raceway this Friday July 3rd followed by a return to the
BOS on July 4th.
